The point i’m trying to make is that with all the positives come just as many negatives of graduating without a job, so here’s to the Universe in hopes that I will soon land a job.

The Dish on the Swish

Basically the reason is because I’m graduating in 2 weeks. In 2 weeks, I will be done with all of my finals… FOREVER! I keep on telling myself 2 weeks and then i’m done! I’m free! But then I think… what am I free to do? I don’t have a job lined up and I don’t have any idea what I want to do in the upcoming future. Then I think about how chill the spring is going to be for me, but then I think how I need a job and want to make money. I think about how I need to get really good grades for my finals, but then I think how once I’m in the real world, grades aren’t all that important. So that’s why I don’t know how to feel. I’m sad because I know that after college, I won’t see a lot of people. I know that next semester while i’m done and in Socal, people are studying abroad that I won’t see for a long time. I know that when I’m looking for jobs, all of my friends will be looking for answers for tests.

I guess the hardest part for me right now is that I have no one to relate to. I’m graduating, but none of my really close friends are graduating. They’re all graduating in the spring… like most people. So while i’m scared to go into the “real world,” i’m on my own. I can’t hold hands with someone and say let’s dive in together. Right now, I have to make a solo journey of finding out what it’s like to go through a shitty economy looking for a job. That’s why I’m confused, because no one really knows what I’m going through. I don’t even know what I’m going through to be honest… I just hope that it all works out

1) Family – my family has always been there for me, but it seems that this year in particular they have simply been my go-to for anything and everything. If I needed advice for life or in my search for jobs, they are always there to help me no matter what.

2) Friends – I have the best friends in the world. I may not talk to them every day or even every week, but whenever we do talk, they know me better than anyone else and I can’t imagine ever having a better time with anyone else.

3) College – Whether I like it or not, I will be graduating college in about 3 weeks… like FINALLY GRADUATING! This is the big moment that everyone looks forward to or dreads, depending on whether or not you have a job. College has been rough, and there have been times I wish I didn’t go through, but looking back, it has been the most fun, rewarding, life-changing experience that I am so grateful for.

4) Life talks with friends – There’s a difference between having friends and having friends that you can share life talks with. I classify life talks as talking about anything and just going from subject to subject seamlessly without any breaks or awkward moments. So here’s to those talks that go on until 3am or so without ever feeling tired and only stopping because it got too cold in the parking lot.

5) Music – Music has such a huge effect on my life that I don’t always notice it. For example, when I’m in a good mood, I listen to Jason Mraz-esque music, when I need a pump me up i’ll listen to some techno, or when I just feel like partying I’ll throw on some hip hop. No matter the occasion, music is always there to enhance my mood.

6) Parties – There’s adult parties, and then there’s college parties. College parties only happen once in your life (about four years to be exact) but they are some of the most fun, outlandish, extreme events you will ever attend. Want to buy some reindeer for your christmas party? Sure! Why not? Let’s in fact get 2! Want to spend $5,000 on packing peanuts? Let’s do it! I will forever remember those crazy nights.

7) Health – Health is something that so many people take for granite. I am so lucky to be healthy and free of disease and harm. Sure, no one is ever perfectly healthy, but surviving college without any problems makes me thankful.

8 ) Meeting new people – who doesn’t like to meet new people? You start off with your friends from back home, then you go to college and look for friends that are just like your friends from back home. Sometimes you meet people and you click instantly, and sometimes, well let’s just say you won’t be talking to them all that much anymore. Regardless, there’s no better feeling than meeting someone you’ve never met before and then sharing a friendship and stories with them.

9) Being spontaneous – Life, I have come to realize, is all about how spontaneous you can be. There will be times when you need to plan big events, such as weddings and family vacations, but when you’re young, it’s all about getting tacos at 2am at a place you’ve never been to, or going out to drink with some people you just met because you had nothing else to do on a friday night. I have come to be more spontaneous, and let me tell you, it’s fantastic.

10) Humor – If you know me, you know that I appreciate a good joke. Yes, my own jokes may not be the best, but I don’t do it to be funny… I just like seeing other people laugh and smile, and if that comes from my jokes being bad, then so be it. If you can’t live life without humor, then what’s the point?

This year has opened my eyes to so many things and through it all, I have become a better person, appreciated those around me more, and have gained a better understanding of what it means to be happy. Thank you for the memories and life lessons!
